Why will certain websites not load with Firefox or IE?


A few weeks ago, I had the Total Security Virus. I thought it was all cleaned up, I used both AVG and Malwarebytes. However, I am not able to load Google News or Bing websites. Every other site, that I’ve tried, has worked. I feel like I’ve tried EVERYTHING and researched on end on how to fix this. Here is what I’ve done so far:

*Run both of the antivirus programs.
*Cleaned up cookies, cache, proxy, history through the control panel, through Firefox, and through Internet explorer.
*Disabled firewalls.
*Cleaned system though cleanmgr.
*Tried loading it through safe mode (still didn’t work).

Does anyone know what I can do?! I am so desperate.

When I open it in Firefox it says:
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the web.
When I open them in IE it says:
Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

I do have flash, and just reloaded it, but the websites still do not work.

Check your proxy servers in both IE and Firefox. Also check your hosts file (c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts). Delete all lines that mentions google or bing. That should do the trick.
If not, you got a rootkit hidden in your system, and you need a good spyware remover.

The image from camera would say "offline" if the client isn’t actually connected to the server. Could you click on the tools icon (the one that looks like a pick and shovel up in the toolbar) and ensure your email address and password are entered correctly? If the client hasn’t connected to the server, motion detection will not work…

If you have indeed entered the username and password correctly, but the client still says "Offline", and reports "Unable to connect" as an error message, it could be because of a firewall / proxy on your PC that’s restricting access. It’s quite safe to permit HomeCamera to connect as it’s making an OUTWARD connection from your PC, meaning that you aren’t really opening up your PC to attack externally – it’s just like using your browser to access a site.

You will need to check out what port the webcam is trying to connect using. This should be recorded in the sites FAQ.

Then go into Ashampoo & ope the port. You will need to specify a rule name ( call it Webcam ) & the port that it uses. Allow the pc to connect through the port & all should be OK.

VPN vs Proxy, Which Is The Fastest?


I am trying to watch Hulu outside the US.

Proxy’s are usually very slow, many don’t support video and have a host of other problems including the potential for picking up viruses with the free versions. No free proxy is going to have the bandwidth to handle this well.

Also the proxy’s are running on TCP and most VPN’s run UDP which is a superior protocol for transmitting time sensitive data like video. UDP drops lost packets and doesn’t try and account for them. This is good because if a few packets get lost as you are watching the video you get a small blip and go on. There is no benefit in getting those packets back seconds after they have been played. It’s too late.

TCP will try and retransmit lost packets over and over, clogging up the pipe with data you can’t use because the time has passed in the video where this data matters anymore. Yet TCP keeps on trying. This is great for web pages where you want all the data. It is lousy for video and audio where time is important and when the time has passed it’s too late.

I live in the UAE and unblock web sites and watch video using a VPN. I am quite satisfied.

Regarding the "upside down man", as Nick’s plot shows, when flipped, the Korttajarvi series has little impact on the overall reconstructions. Also, the series was not included in the calibration. Nonetheless, it’s unfortunate that I flipped the Korttajarvi data. We used the density data as the temperature proxy, as recommended to me by Antii Ojala (co-author of the original work). It’s weakly inversely related to organic matter content. I should have used the inverse of density as the temperature proxy. I probably got confused by the fact that the 20th century shows very high density values and I inadvertently equated that directly with temperature.

I tried hard to balance the needs of the science and the IPCC , which were not always the same. I worried that you might think I gave the impression of not supporting you well enough while trying to report on the issues and uncertainties . Much had to be removed and I was particularly unhappy that I could not get the statement into the SPM regarding the AR4 reinforcement of the results and conclusions of the TAR. The first is to look at the difference between the observed and expected anthropogenic trend relative to the pdf for unforced variability. The second is to remove ENSO, volcanoes and TSI variations from the observed data. Both methods show that what we are seeing is not unusual. The second method leaves a significant warming over the past decade."

Example 2:
Mann writes: "As we all know, this isn’t about truth at all, its about plausibly deniable accusations." But it is clear from the context that the specific "this" that "isn’t about truth at all" is not the data, but the false accusations of the denial industry.

Example 3:
"Mike’s Nature trick … to hide the decline." The decline referred to is NOT in temperatures, but in the correlation between proxy temps and real temps that occurs after 1960. And if you actually look at Michael Mann’s published Nature paper, the decline is not hidden at all: it’s in plain sight, and indeed is so well known among the paleoclimate community that hiding it would be impossible anyway.

What Mann did was to plot proxy temps and real temps on the same graph, which clearly DEMONSTRATES that proxy data and real data diverge after 1960. So the truth is that "Mike’s Nature trick" actually shows the declining correlation and doesn’t hide it in the slightest. The only thing being "hidden" (and that’s admittedly a poor choice of words) is the known-to-be incorrect post-1960 proxy data, which is only "hidden" by the known-to-be-correct instrumental record.

So once again, no evidence that even one datum actually published is wrong.

Could be an add-on.. I think it probably is Tools > Add-Ons.. See if parental control or something is enabled. Want to know how to get past it if nothing works? You google "Firefox 3.1 beta3" then download it, if it asks to import. Say no.. Hide it its a completely different firefox.. :P
